What happens during the procedure?

First you will be offered an initial consultation where you can discuss your needs with the doctor. This is a good opportunity to discuss any concerns, expectations, the procedure in detail and how much it will cost. The procedure itself may take as little as 45 minutes. After local anaesthetic is applied to the area, the laser probe is inserted through a tiny incision (1-3mm) in the skin. Once in contact with the fat, the laser  breaks down the fat into a liquid debris. The laser is especially good for treating small fatty areas and superficial fat just beneath the skin and helps achieve a nice smooth finish with skin tightening. For larger areas where more fat reduction is required Vaser ultrasound can be used after the laser. The vaser procedure is similar to the laser but uses a 2-3mm probe which emits a state of the art specialised ultrasound wave. Vaser ultrasound is much better and faster at breaking down larger areas of fat, thus shortening the overall treatment time and ultimately making is easier to remove more fat ( up to 2 litres). After the laser and vaser have liquified the fat it is then gently removed with aspiration (suction). For smaller areas aspiration is sometimes not even necessary.

Most patients start to see improvements around two to four weeks and final results after six to seven months ( sometimes even longer), depending on the treatment area.
